LTk Pattern Licensing Policy Information

Licensing Little Turtle Knits™ is happy to now offer cottage industry licenses for our patterns. If you are interested in using any of the Little Turtle Knits™ Patterns for profit and home business purposes, you must do so in accordance to the following terms and conditions. When you purchase a Little Turtle Knits™ pattern, it is licensed for personal and home use only. You may make an unlimited quantity of the item, but you may not sell or make a profit in any way from the item. The only exception to this is items knit for charity, and you must first email Little Turtle Knits™ and inform us of your charitable use of our patterns. Cottage Industry: If you are working out of your home you may purchase a "Cottage Industry License" which will give you the right to use Little Turtle Knits™ Pattern in your for-profit-home-business. We offer two distinct licenses, which can be purchased individually, or in combo at a reduced rate. The "LTKnitters™ Soaker License" will cover unlimited use of the original soaker, longies, ribby wrap, hybrid rib, picky pants, flirty skirty & undersoaker patterns for a single individual or up to two people in business together (which is defined as individuals selling from one website under a single business name and sharing equally in the business profits.) The pattens must be purchased seperately from the license. The license is $250 annually. The "LTKnitters™ Cottage License" will cover unlimited use of all patterns offered by Little Turtle Knits™ (excluding the babywearer, the original soaker, longies, ribby wrap, hybrid rib, picky pants, flirty skirty & undersoaker patterns) for a single individual or up to two people in business together (which is defined as individuals selling from one website under a single business name and sharing equally in the business profits.) The patterns must be purchased seprately from the license. This license is $250 annually. The "LTKnitters™ Combo License" will encompass both the Soaker License and the Cottage License, at a reduced rate. The license is $400 annually. The "LTKnitters™ Single Pattern License" is for those who are interested in only licensing one of our patterns. You can use this to sell at local craft fairs, bazaars, or to compliment your own pattern line, say the felted mocs to go with your own wool pants, or the moc booties to go with your sweaters. This license is $50 per pattern, annually. The babywearer, the original soaker, longies, ribby wrap, hybrid rib, picky pants, flirty skirty & undersoaker patterns are not available through this license. 5 consecutive years of renewing annual license (6 years total) will automatically transfer into lifetime status. With payment of any licensing fee, you will receive a free membership to our private forum on the Little Turtle Knits™ website. This forum will be a place for LTKnitters™ to communicate with each other, to keep you updated about new patterns, as well as any other important announcements. It is also the place where you will go if you need tech support from Little Turtle Knits™. We pride ourselves on pattern support, and out LTKnitters™ will be no different-we are here for you as you embark on your business, and we strive to meet your needs. In keeping with our desire to offer exceptional support, we will offer bulk discounts on Little Turtle Knits™ yarn, should you choose to utilize our exceptional wool. We also offer an advertising index of LTKnitters™, so that customers know how to find you. We will provide quality-control seals in web-graphic format to ensure the appearance of your items meets our approval, in order to protect our trademarks and to ensure your customers that you are a licensed LTKnitter™ . These are provided free of charge, however you must submit one of each item knit from our pattern that you will be selling, to be evaluated. If you would like to become a Platinum LTKnitter™, you will have to submit a minimum of three handknit items for our approval, and you will also have to agree to use LTK yarn in all your items for resale. This is to ensure that the Little Turtle Knits™ reputation remains strong, and that our history of quality is not compromised. To qualify for one of Little Turtle Knits™'s cottage industry licenses, you must do the knitting and all finishing work by hand yourself with absolutely no additional help. (Those in partnership can each do individual pieces or work in tandem.) These licenses are designed to help mothers knit for profit while staying home to care for their children and/or running their own home business. This is not a license for any type of commercial or factory setting production. The licenses are only valid for Little Turtle Knits™ authorized patterns. The cost of developing new designs, as well as publishing and marketing them, is immense and the contract licensing fees help with this cost. Like many other industries, every time a pattern is copied, sold, or distributed illegally -- we will lose a much needed sale. Each of our patterns were developed by Little Turtle Knits™, and they each represent a great deal of time and effort. Please respect our position as a cottage industry by respecting our copyrights. Please note: All cottage industry license fees go towards the for-profit use of the pattern ONLY. Licenses are sold with absolutely no guarantee or promise of success or any specific monetary gain. While Little Turtle Knits™ does plan to continue licensing indefinitely, renewals cannot be guaranteed. Contract License Fees are absolutely non-transferable and non-refundable. Please email us for a copy of the license agreement and to set up payment. If you are unable to pay the fee all at once, we can set up a payment plan to accomodate you.
